What Technolab is

A fully-managed robotics programme built on the globally-proven VEX platform. Rather than buying equipment that dates and depreciates, your school leases an age-matched fleet and we train your own teachers to deliver it — curriculum, servicing and competition pathway all included.

Technolab is a programme of STEM Impact Center Kenya, which leases it directly to schools, in partnership with Tech Harbor Education — Kenya's authorized VEX reseller.

Frequently asked questions

What is Technolab?+

A fully-managed robotics programme for schools, delivered by STEM Impact Center Kenya in partnership with Tech Harbor Education. Your school leases an age-matched VEX fleet, we train your teachers and provide the curriculum — for a simple membership billed by semester, with no capital outlay.

Why lease instead of buy?+

Leasing turns capital into a predictable operating cost, keeps kits current, and bundles maintenance, servicing and teacher training so equipment never sits idle or obsolete.

How are the fees charged?+

Kit lease is billed each semester (three a year); the annual programme fee (teacher training, curriculum, admin) once a year at the first semester; all fees are due on the first day of the semester; competition entry is arranged and billed separately.

How long is the lease? Is there a minimum term?+

Technolab runs on a three-year minimum lease and renews thereafter. Fees are billed by academic year for the length of the term — kit lease each semester (three a year) and the annual programme fee at Semester 1.

What is the minimum a school can take?+

The primary bundle — a minimum of 10 kits each of VEX 123, VEX GO and VEX IQ, sized to a class of at least 30 students, on the three-year minimum lease. Optional add-ons can be added on top, each with its own minimum.

Can we add more kits later in the lease?+

Yes. You can add optional add-on kits at any time. They take effect the following semester and are billed only for the remaining semesters of that year (prorated), each keeping its own minimum quantity — then at the full annual rate from the next year.

Is there a site visit or assessment?+

No manual assessment is needed. You build your own bundle with the calculator and complete a short online form with your school details — that is the assessment. We then handle installation, teacher training, curriculum and servicing.

What does our school need to provide?+

A dedicated room for the Technolab — kept secure, with power and space for the kits — and teachers to be trained and certified to deliver the programme. Everything else (kits, curriculum, servicing, spare parts and competition support) is included.

See our partner's programme page at Tech Harbor Education.
