Holiday STEM Bootcamp
Five mornings, one project, and something they built themselves to show on Friday. Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 12 Noon at our tech center in Upperhill, Nairobi — booked by the week.
No camp is open for registration at the moment — ours run in the April, August and December school holidays. Email programs@stemimpactcenterkenya.org to hear when the next one opens, or join the Saturday STEM Club, which runs all year.

9:00 AM — 12 Noon
Three hours each morning
Where
09 Kiambere Road
Upperhill, Nairobi
Cost
Ksh 4,500
Per student per week
Who it's for
Any child from age 5, whether or not they have touched a robot before. There is no entrance test and no school affiliation required — children are grouped by age, so a five-year-old and a fifteen-year-old are in the same building doing very different things.
A camp week suits a child who would otherwise spend the holiday on a screen, and it suits siblings: they can register together on one form, each lands in the group for their own age, and the sibling discount applies across the registration.

A Week In The Camp
Each week is one project, start to finish. That is why the mornings run consecutively — Thursday only makes sense because of Tuesday.
Monday
Meet the kit
Teams form, tools come out, and the week’s challenge is set. Nobody needs prior experience to start here.
Tuesday
Build
The first working build — mechanisms, motors and structure, with an instructor on every table.
Wednesday
Make it think
Code goes on. Sensors, logic and the first run that does what it was told.
Thursday
Break it and fix it
Testing, failing, and iterating — the day most of the learning actually happens.
Friday
Showcase
Each team demonstrates what they built to the room, and parents are welcome to come and watch.
What They'll Learn
Children are grouped by age, and each band follows its own lesson plan — the same pathways as our after-school programmes.
STEM Explorers Program (Ages 5–8)
For our youngest innovators, this program focuses on “Learning through Play,” transitioning students from tactile, screen-free discovery to creative digital expression and mechanical building.
Foundation & Logic (Ages 5–6)
Computational thinking without complex interfaces.
Screen-Free Robotics with Qobo & VEX 123
Students learn coding through physical touch buttons, coding cards and tablet coding.
Creative Coding with OctoStudio
Turn photos and drawings into interactive stories on a tablet.
Transitional Engineering (Ages 7–8)
More sophisticated tools as fine motor skills develop.
Hands-on Building with VEX GO
Assemble real mechanical systems with pins, beams, and gears.
Tablet-Guided Coding & Scratch
Program custom-built VEX GO creations with VEXcode.
Tech Innovators Program (Ages 9–14)
This stage shifts from “playing to learn” to “engineering to solve,” introducing industry-standard tools and competitive-level robotics.
Advanced Robotics & Systems (Ages 9–11)
Modular, high-precision robotics that challenge mechanical and logical thinking.
LEGO Education SPIKE Prime
Tackle STEAM-themed projects with the SPIKE Prime ecosystem.
VEX IQ Robotics
Transition to competitive robotics with the snap-together VEX IQ system.
Real-World Prototyping & App Dev (Ages 12–14)
Moving from pre-built kits into custom electronics and software.
Arduino Prototyping
Wire breadboards, use resistors, and program Arduino microcontrollers.
Mobile App Development
Design and code functional mobile apps with MIT App Inventor or React Native.
Future Engineers Program — 15 Years & Above
The focus shifts toward Industry 4.0 Readiness with professional-grade hardware, AI integration, and full-stack software development.
High-Performance Robotics & AI (Ages 15+)
Technology used in modern industrial automation and research labs.
VEX Competitive Excellence
Raspberry Pi & AI Robotics
Digital Design & Fabrication
Industry-standard CAD modeling with Fusion 360.
Rapid Prototyping
Bring digital designs to life using 3D Printers.
Web Development & Professional Portfolio
Build responsive websites with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
Fees
Charged per student, per week. You choose how many weeks on the registration form.
One week
Five mornings, 9 AM – 12 Noon
Ksh 4,500
Sibling discount
10% off for two children, 15% for three or more — applied across one registration.
Early bird
Where a camp sets one, the reduced weekly rate applies to registrations submitted on or before its deadline.
Included
All kit, tools, materials and devices. Nothing to buy or bring.
Not included
Transport, lunch and any trip outside the centre.
Your exact total — weeks, sibling discount and early-bird rate — is shown on the registration form before you submit, and an invoice follows by email.
The Practical Part
Drop-off and pick-up
Doors open at 8:45 AM and the morning ends at 12 Noon. Transport to and from the centre is the parent’s responsibility, and a child is released only to the people named on your registration.
What to bring
A water bottle, a snack and closed shoes. Everything else is ours — kit, tools, materials and devices.
Keeping you posted
Your confirmation email lists the exact mornings, and your parent dashboard — linked from that email — shows attendance and payment status as the week goes on.
Camp In Action
Mornings from our previous holiday bootcamps.

Questions Parents Ask
Can my child do two weeks that are not back to back?
Not on one registration — the weeks run consecutively from the Monday you choose, because each week builds on the one before it. Register twice if you need separate weeks, and tell us so we can seat them with the right group.
Do we get the sibling discount and the early-bird rate together?
Yes. The early-bird rate sets the weekly fee, and the sibling discount comes off that. The fee summary on the registration form shows the exact figures before you commit.
What if we miss a morning?
The week is a fixed block of mornings, so a missed morning cannot be moved or refunded. Public holidays are different: where the centre is closed we take that morning out of your schedule up front and tell you which one.
Is there a free trial?
The free trial is a Saturday STEM Club session, not a camp morning — a camp week is a single project from Monday to Friday and a one-day visit would not do it justice. The trial is one session per child.
What should they bring?
A water bottle, a snack, and closed shoes. All kit, tools and materials are ours. Nothing needs to be bought or brought from home.
Does my child need their own laptop?
No. Devices are provided for every session.
