The Ignite Girls in STEM Kenya program aims to create mentorship opportunities for underrepresented girls and young women in primary, secondary, and out of school girls and women from different backgrounds including informal settlements and rural areas. The program goal is to increase the participation and success in STEM careers of girls and women by offering girls and young women between 6 and 29 years who reside in low-income urban and rural areas.

The Ignite Girls in STEM is made up of two components:

  • Girls in STEM Bootcamps
  • Creative Learning Women Empowerment Fellowship dedicated to female teachers.

In Kenya, many bright and talented girls in underserved communities face barriers that limit their access to quality education and opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields. The Ignite Girls in STEM program aims to bridge this gap by providing these girls with the necessary resources, mentorship, and hands-on learning experiences that will empower them to pursue careers in STEM.

Creative Learning Women Empowerment Fellowship

The Creative Learning Women Empowerment Fellowship Program is a program that seeks to empower women in STEM through creative coding training.

The goals of the program are to increase the number of female teachers in STEM and creative learning fields in Kenya, improve the quality of STEM and creative learning education for girls in Kenya, create a network of support and mentorship for female STEM and creative learning teachers in Kenya, and promote gender equity in STEM and creative learning education in Kenya.

The objectives of the program are to provide female teachers with high-quality professional development in STEM and creative learning, develop and implement innovative teaching methods and resources for STEM and creative learning, create a safe and supportive environment for female teachers to share ideas and collaborate, and advocate for policies and practices that support gender equity in STEM and creative learning education.
